
Accelerated Master's programs
The School of Politics and Global Studies offers several Accelerated Master's programs that allow highly qualified undergraduate students in select degree programs to earn both a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree and a Master of Arts degree in five years.
Eligibility:
All programs require students to apply internally to SPGS in the spring semester of the junior year and be accepted by the graduate faculty committee in order to start taking graduate courses the following fall. All Accelerated Master's programs require applicants to have a 3.6 minimum cumulative GPA at the time of application.
Students must have earned a minimum 75 credit hours towards undergraduate degree at time of application. Admitted students must have earned 90 undergraduate credits before beginning graduate coursework. Admitted students must complete a graduate application through ASU Graduate Admissions in the first semester taking graduate coursework.
Application deadlines and requirements:
- May 15: MA in Global Security, MA in Global Security (Cybersecurity concentration), and MA in Political Psychology
- May 1: MA in Political Science
Approved pairings:
Each program pairing is specific to the degree and the mode of learning (immersion/in-person vs. online). Students applying to the graduate program of interest must be in an aligned undergraduate degree program to qualify. Please see approved parings to ensure you are eligible.

At this time, the School’s SPGS Accelerated Master's programs are not designed to connect to the Thunderbird MA in Global Management program.
Students accepted to these programs may earn graduate and undergraduate credit in the final year or semester of the undergraduate program year that can be applied to both graduate and undergraduate degrees. Program requirements and credit allowances differ between programs. Please contact the undergraduate advisor or Graduate Coordinator in the graduate program of interest for more information.
