About the Student Ambassador Program
The School of Politics and Global Studies Student Ambassador Program is a selective professional development opportunity for students passionate about politics, global studies, and community engagement. Ambassadors represent the School at events, support recruitment and outreach, and build leadership, communication, and professional skills. Participants also complete a 3-credit upper-division course focused on developing these skills over the academic year.
Eligibility Requirements:
- SPGS Undergraduate Major at the Tempe campus (i.e. Political Science, Global Studies, or International Relations)
- 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA
- Good academic and conduct standing with ASU
- Available for all class meetings, events, and opportunities during the academic year

As an ambassador, you will:
- Represent SPGS at events, tours, and info sessions
- Connect with students, alumni, and campus partners
- Build leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Gain hands-on experience with faculty and staff

- Earn up to 3 upper division POS/SGS/INR credits
Professional Development Course
All ambassadors enroll in a for-credit professional development course designed to support your growth as a student leader. The course provides structured training and mentorship to ensure ambassadors feel confident and prepared in their roles. Through the course, ambassadors will:
- Strengthen communication and public speaking skills
- Learn professional etiquette and workplace best practices
- Explore career pathways related to politics, global studies, public service, and beyond
- Reflect on leadership experiences and set professional goals
