American Politics:

Faculty in American Politics contribute to our strengths in campaigns and elections and the study of women and politics. Race and Politics is also an area of strength. Faculty are skilled in several core methodological approaches, such as survey research, experimental designs, and content analysis.

Thank you for your interest in a graduate program in political science at Arizona State University.

Both our MA and PhD programs provide a strong foundation in research methods and substantive content, and allow our students to craft a program of study that meets their individual interests. Our diverse and distinguished faculty have strong commitments to excellence in research and teaching, and to working with our graduate students to help them reach their career goals.

Internships are a great way to gain real world experience and connections while also continuing your degree! We have partnerships with a variety of corporations and government agencies, nationally and internationally. If you are interested in participating in an internship, please contact the internship coordinator for your major. Students interested in interning must have an overall GPA of 2.5 and have completed at least 50 hours of credit, of which at least 12 should be from ASU.

There are a myriad of ways to get in contact with the School of Politics and Global Studies. The fundamental mission of the School of Politics and Global Studies (SPGS) is to generate and diffuse knowledge that contributes to society’s understanding of politics and governance at local, national, and global levels.

Consistent with ASU’s goals as The New American University, the School emphasizes research that links theory with real world issues and action through policy.
